My youngest son was married last November. He and his bride are very happy, and I wish nothing but the best for them both. But stars in your eyes can cloud your thinking, so I’m sharing some hard-earned wisdom, hoping to reach their brains, not just their hearts. In no particular order, here are my top ten for staying in love and building a happy home.
Depression haunts my days. I live with its specter, wondering when the ghoul will next raise its fearsome head. I’ve had episodes of clinical depression so severe that my parents, my husband, and yes, myself, have all told me in no uncertain terms that I needed help.
I am fat. There, I said it. I am fat. I have been fat for so long, that I do not even remember what it feels like to be a healthy weight. I may have had good reasons for self-medicating with food – more about that in weeks to come – but it doesn’t change the truth: I am fat.
